History

Heereco is a family business, founded in 1970 by Jos Heeren, the father of current owners Jeffrey and Dorus Heeren. Originally starting out as a traditional grower, Heereco soon started to explore which specific markets it could serve. This resulted at the end of the 1990s in the cultivation of flat white mushrooms for the British market, with portobellos soon being added. In 2005, the two brothers switched to organic mushroom cultivation.

 

Heereco has obtained organic certification from the Skal control authority.
